Ball valves are used extensively for process line isolation in a variety of industries including the oil and gas, onshore and offshore oil processing, oil refining, chemical and petrochemical, and general process industries.
Generally available in two types: “Floating Ball” type and “Trunnion Ball” type. The choice between floating ball and trunnion ball type is very much dependent on the valve size, pressure class rating, and type of service (please visit our Technical Corner section for comparison of two types of ball valves).
Some advantages of ball valves over other types of valves include, smooth operation, low pressure loss, high flow coefficient, compact design, and ability to have designs that conform to fire test standards as defined by the American Petroleum Institute (API), British Standards, and other international fire testing standards.
Ball valves can be manufactured bar stock material, forgings, castings, with options on end connections (screwed, SW, BW, and flanged). Available in materials of construction to suit customer requirements e.g. carbon and stainless steel, and high allow steels for corrosive or low temperature applications.
